Land Ahoy!

 

Located at the entrance of the Gironde estuary between Royan, Vaux-sur-Mer, and the Pointe de Grave, the Cordouan lighthouse rises to a majestic height of 68 meters. It has undergone numerous transformations from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution and was classified as a historical monument in 1862.

Known as the "Versailles of the seas," it's the oldest lighthouse in open sea.
